Let’s face it, taking your natural hair to the next level by coloring it can be an exciting experience. At least I see color and think how my twist out would look bomb! I want color I want to try color in my natural hair but this is why I’m scared.
Breakage
I have finally gotten my hair to the point where I know how to control the breakage. The idea of putting color in my hair knowing that it there is a chance breakage can occur is not what I want. Whether you are going darker and only adding low tones to your hair breakage is still a possibility. I’m definitely not wanting to go backwards in my hair care journey.
Hair pattern change
We all know that straighten our hair too much can cause hair pattern changes, but coloring it can definitely alter your hair pattern. Coloring your hair can affect the protein in our hair causing for the pattern to become a looser texture. Applying protein treatments and trimming regularly can help with texture change but sometimes texture changes can be permanent.
Horrible Color result
So, you want a tint of blonde highlights yet it comes out green. OMG! I can’t. This would be my luck. The color won’t come out correctly, why? Because the color you choose is dependent on your current hair color as well as the porosity of your hair. The color on the box is not how the color always comes out. Especially for natural hair. Never try to apply hair color on your own because the results can be horrific.
Dryness
Changing your natural hair regimen in any way can cause dryness, but color changes can definitely cause your hair to become too dry. I love the moisture that my current natural hair has. I’m not here for the extra responsibility of dry natural hair due to coloring. I do not want to add extra time to my deep conditioning process or change my regimen altogether and still have dry hair. Coloring your hair is not the time to get lazy, if you are a lazy natural then put that box of coloring down.
Basically I’m not here for the semi-permanent, temporary color, demi-semi, or permanent hair color, ok? lol but if you are cool just be ready show your tresses some extra love.
Let me know in the comments if you have colored your natural hair and the results!
