Know how to play the game

This past Sunday while driving to church, I was speaking to my mom on phone about something that’s been aggravating me for a while. My mom always has the best come backs for everything. She makes you think sometimes more than I really want to. Anyways, as I was going off complaining, she shut me up and said, “KINEATRA! Know the rules of the game but more importantly, know how to play it better than anyone else.” I thought, huh? I didn’t get it. What did she mean to know how to play it better? I didn’t understand, well,I’m starting to.

The Bad

My mom didn’t mean that I should play games in an immature or juvenile way, she was speaking on life. How are we choosing to play the game of life? We hate when bad things happen. The idea of handling anything bad is just annoying. Happiness all the time is what we all strive for, which we should, but the reality is that bad things are going to happen.  Then we expect immediate gratification with everything, and when it’s not happening as quickly as we think it should. We’re searching for the negative even become it happens.

Next the overwhelm happens and we lose control, God forbid we aren’t in control, right? At this point frustration sets in and we become so blinded by the “bad” or the problem that we can’t figure out how to solve it. It becomes a never-ending cycle. This is how we’re living and it becomes so draining. But then the good comes and we can see a light.

The Good

When we’re happy, we’re happy! Can you think back to the last time you felt good? Like really good? What comes into your head? For me, it’s being with my family. They’re my happy place and refuge away from the world. They get me, and I don’t have to be anyone else with them. Not that I’m not being myself with other people, it’s just my family are my people. They make me see the good in every situation.

If the good is outweighing the bad in your relationship(s) than embrace them. The good does last but that doesn’t mean that bad won’t come or that you can’t get through the bad. It just means you need make a shift on how your playing the game. If you want to win at any game especially the game of life how do you plan to win? You have to strategize! Find your strategy to make the bad work for you. Take whatever life throws at you and make it work no matter what. It’s easier said than done, I know this which is why I’m trying each every day to make my “bad” work for me. So, when the good comes I can truly appreciate it. So, one last question for you. Are you playing the game or is the game playing you?

Until next time ya’ll! I think I’m finally getting this unfair life thing. Peace X LOVE
