If you have sensitive skin like me than finding anything to clean your face or skin in general can be tricky. One of the best ways to clean your face is to exfoliate. This will rid your skin of the toxins and get rid of old dry skin cells. Here are 3 natural Exfoliants:
Sugar
Sugar has a natural source of glycolic acid, which acts as a barrier to break down the “walls” of the skin and penetrate the bonds of skin cells encouraging fresher, younger looking skin. Typically Glycolic Acid is used to treat damaged skin due to sun burns and aging skin. The types of sugars used to exfoliate differ because it is recommended not to use granulated sugar. Brown sugar and pure cane sugar are the best to use when making a facial scrub.
What you need:
- Brown Sugar
- Olive Oil
- honey
Directions:
Add a cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of Olive Oil, and 1/4 cup of honey. For extra moisture lemon juice can be added. Add the mixture to your face with a scrubbing motion. Leave on for about 2 minutes. Warm off with warm water. This recipe is great in the winter, since the skin is more prone to dryer temperatures.
Sea Salt
Sea Salt is great for dry skin, especially in the winter. It is packed with trace minerals, which is great for skin renewal. Also helps with smoothing the top layer of skin.
What you need:
- Sea Salt
- Essential Oil (Lavender, vanilla, etc)
- Jojoba or grapeseed Oil
Directions:
Mix Sea Salt with your favorite oil (jojoba or grapeseed). Add Essential oil for fragrance, while making a paste like substance. Scrub face in a circular motion for 2 minutes, rinse with warm water as usual.
Baking Soda
This recipe is simple. Grab Baking Soda and water. Mix into a paste and apply to your skin to create a mask. This mixer is especially great for those who have sensitive skin. It will balance the pH levels of your skin and treat acne. This may be your favorite facial scrub.
